The cheapest way to get from Nice airport to Cannes in 2023

Cannes Xpress shuttle bus
Save money getting to Cannes

With taxis costing upwards of €100 depending on where you are staying in Cannes, it’s always worth checking the other options. If you are travelling with one or two people and have travelled a bit, you might just want to get downtown as quickly as possible in which case the taxis are a tempting option. If you are travelling alone, on a budget and have a little time, there are five cheap ways to get to Cannes.

What’s more, they are more eco-friendly, sustainable ways to travel.

To determine which the best option is, think first about where you are actually staying.

  • Cannes centre: the express bus and the train are the best options.
  • Antibes, Golfe-Juan or Juan-les-Pins: the Golfe Juan express bus or train is the way to go.
  • Cannes La Bocca or Mandelieu: go for the train (just check on a map how close your hotel is to the relevant stations).
  • Outlying neighbourhoods: try your luck with Uber or a private shuttle service

Getting to Cannes by bus and train

Our first tip is the cheapest: the bus. Line 620 and 621 (formerly called the NoctamBus 200) takes over from the express shuttle bus (see below) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The journey takes about 90 minutes and costs just €2.10 (or €2.50 if you pay on the bus). It drives through Antibes, Juan-les-Pin and Golfe Juan, so is handy if your hotel is located there. For the night runs, tell the driver your destination and he or she will stop as close as possible. Check the timetable as a PDF.

St Augustin: the nearest railway station to Nice Airport

Tip n° 2: It’s a little-known secret that Nice airport has a railway station (relatively) near by: Nice-St Augustin. It brings you to Cannes in about 35 minutes for under €6. It’s particularly handy if you are staying in Juan-les-Pins or Antibes. To reach it, take bus 23 from Terminal 1. Nice-St Augustin is the second stop. Alternatively, go to the bus station in Terminal 1 and look for signposts for the “L’Arénas” office block. Then take Avenue Lindbergh and then a right on the Blvd Cassin. Cross at the lights and head under the railway bridge. You’ll find the station on your right. It takes about 15 minutes, not recommended if you have heavy cases but perfectly doable otherwise. Last trains are at 21:43 weekdays and 14 past midnight on Saturdays and Sundays according to the train timetable. But I’m hesitant about recommending the last train. Look for the latest timetable on the SNCF site. Enter the station name Nice-St Augustin to search (updated April 2023 – but this page changes frequently and is only available in French).

Tip 3: the Cannes Xpress bus (line 81, formerly n° 210) is a popular option, as it leaves from Terminal 1 every 30 minutes from 7.45am, visits Terminal 2 and then takes the motorway straight to Cannes for €19 in 50 minutes. Tickets to Cannes can be bought at the counters just outside the airport terminals. I like this one, as you often meet people on the bus and your Cannes event starts straight away! The last bus leaves the airport at 8.30pm. The bus arrives and then leaves from Cannes railway station.  There are ample bus connections from there, or take a taxi if you’re out of town. Another express bus, n° 250, goes from the airport to Antibes, Juan-les-Pins and Golfe Juan for €10 (€15 return).

Tip 4: The newest kid on the block is, of course, Uber. If you are familiar with the service which connects travellers with cars, check their Cannes page.

Tip 5: there has been explosion of private services over the past few years, including a number that offer shared shuttles services from about €30.

Updated March 2023. But I’m not responsible for changes to the prices or timetables!

Please double check if you are getting in late.

  1. There’s no mystery about this part! Traffic takes between 30-45 mins. For example, Saturdays, you’ll get caught in traffic jams whether you are in a van, a taxi or a shuttle service. In general, it’s best to avoid setting appointments on the day of travel unless you can count 2 hours from the airport. You’ll need to time to get into Cannes, find your hotel, pick up your badge, find the place you are to meet in, etc.

If you took the new shuttle, let us know how it works.

  2. Thanks for that. It’s also a good option. In fact, you might want to choose a hotel that is close to the main road of Juan-les-Pins to benefit from this. Juan hotels tend to be cheaper than in Cannes. Just look out for the last bus!

  9. Hi.

There are ticket sale counters just outside the two terminals. A one-way ticket is an “aller-simple”; a return ticket is a “billet retour” or “aller-retour”.

I’ll add this info to the article. Thanks for reminding me.

  13. is there train on sunday from nice st agustin to saint raphael? We will arrive on sunday 21st of april 2019 at 4pm. Merci beaucoup.

  14. Yes, I can see one at 5.07 (change at Antibes) or a direct one at 5.47. The price for the direct one is about €12.

However, you might have a greater choice of trains if you catch a bus to Nice railway station from the airport.

  15. Everything posted made a ton of sense. But, consider this,
suppose you were to create a killer post title?
I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to run your website, but what if you added a headline to maybe get folk’s attention? I mean The cheapest way to get from Nice airport to Cannes in 2019 | Cannes or Bust is a little boring.
You should peek at Yahoo’s home page and see
how they create news titles to get viewers interested.
You might add a related video or a pic or two to grab
readers interested about everything’ve got to say. In my opinion, it could
make your website a little bit more interesting.

  16. The whole region from Marseilles to Cannes and on to Nice and Monaco is beautiful and can be done quite easily.
