Cannes Lions has announced the launch of Lions Health in 2014, a dedicated two-day awards and festival specifically designed for the healthcare and pharmaceutical communications industries. Lions Health will offer networking, awards and specialist learning to companies working in pharmaceutical and healthcare communications.
The two-day festival in Cannes will take place just before Cannes Lions, June 12-14 2014. Lions Health is for companies active in marketing healthcare products and services: agencies, pharma or health-related client companies, media owners, suppliers of creative and tech products to the health communications business, students and journalists.

Unsurprisingly, given the competitive nature of the mother event, Lions Health will also distribute awards to the best communications campaigns in the sector. Given the very tight regulations and context that they work in, this is not such a bad idea. It certainly makes sense to separate them from the more mainstream communications events. Entries for Lions Health 2014 will open from December 12, 2013.
The first Lions Health Festival in Cannes, culminating in the Awards Ceremony and gala on the Saturday evening will take place on June 13 and 14, 2014 (with other evening networking events on June 12 and 13).
Two juries of specialist industry experts will assess everything from campaigns for prescription drugs and OTC products to unbranded health awareness messages, awarding the very best with coveted Lion trophies.
