Travelers in France: prepare for disruption
Public sector strikes will continue in France through the month of April 2018. The reasons are based on a tug-of-ware between the government’s ambitions for reforming, notably, the national railway SNCF and unions worried about the possible effects. I won’t go into the details which are covered here. Air France employees and students are also striking.
The dates for the upcoming strikes are April 13, 14,18, 19, 23, 24, 28 and 29.
if you are traveling to or within France on these dates, I strongly recommend you allow for the inevitable complications either by moving the dates or foreseeing delays. if you are within driving distance of Cannes, you’ll find a series of French carpooling services here.
It has also just been announced that Lufthansa will be the subject of a strike for April 10 2018 that will impact the airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne and Bremen. Numerous flights are being cancelled. to check if your flight is affected, visit this Lufthansa page.
