Deepstack poker tournament at the Casino Croisette Cannes

The Casino Cannes Croisette will be a magnet for poker players this weekend, when the Summer Poker series hosts a deepstack tournament. Players will have to cough up a buy-in of €1000 for two days of action that starts on Saturday July 16 2011 at 2pm.

Participants ill be given 30,000 tokens for game plays of 45 minutes. Three tickets for the Super Sat WSOP-Europe are also up for grabs. Satellite games with a buy-in of €150 will be held on Thursday 14 and Friday 15, with a €250 tournament being held on Sunday at 5pm. The last winner walked away with nearly €25,000.

World Series of Poker Europe to move to Cannes

Poker plays a growing role in Cannes

Hot news this week is that Cannes is going to host another major poker event later in the year: the World Series of Poker (WSOP). For the past four years, this has been held in London. But between October 7-21, the gaming will be held at the Casino Barrière and Hotel Majestic. The new venue will feature 75 tables, effectively doubling the capacity in 2010. Some 450 players are expected.

The event will be the highlight of a major poker tour of France. From April, towns such as Toulouse, Nice, Lille, Dinard, Enghien, Trouville and Bordeaux will have qualifying rounds. The WSOP was founded in 1970 and is one of the world’s foremost poker brands. As well as hosting the WSOP Europe, France’s Lucien Barrière group also has plans to launch WSOP.fr and clearly position itself as a major online and live poker organiser.

Cannes also hosts the Partouche Poker Tour in September.

3 million euros in play at poker tournament in Cannes

The big news in Cannes poker is that the Main Event of the Season 3 Partouche Poker Tournament will take place September 2-7 2010 at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes. The organisers are guaranteeing a monumental €3 million in prize money, which makes it one of France’s most important events. The last season saw some 35,000 people battle it out for the prize, with the final table broadcast live on EuroSport.

Poker weekend at the Palm Beach, Cannes

The good news for poker players is that the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes is organising an Easter weekend of poker, between April 2-5, 2010. The event opens on Friday at 8pm with Satellite and Short-handed rounds. They continue Saturday from 3pm, with the Main Event programmed at 9pm. The Main Event continues Sunday, with a Ladies Tournament. Easter Monday features a Main Event, a Deep Stack and a Tournament. A tip from us: you might want to book a room as this is a holiday weekend.

First Open de France poker event offers €570,000 prizes

The first Open de France Poker, February 20-28, could be one of the year’s main events. Total prize money of €570,000 is up for grabs, with up to 300 players per event. 50 croupiers across 8 floors will hande the players that will reportedly include professionals such as Rémy Biechel, Thomas Fougeron, François Tardieu and the Winamax and 770 teams. Buy-ins reach €2,000.

Some 1300 poker players are expected to arrive in Cannes for the VIP Poker Boat Tour, December 8-12 2009. The Fashion TV liner will be home to some serious playing, with guests staying on the liner or in hotels and a range of activities such as opening and closing parties, wine-tasting, barbecues, dancing and of course everything Cannes has to offer.
