Quentin Tarantino to give Cannes masterclass

Kill Bill director Quentin Tarantino gives master class in Cannes

Quentin Tarantino is to give a masterclass at Cannes this year [2008]. The maker of “Pulp Fiction” and “Kill Bill” is following in the footsteps of Martin Scorsese, Stephen Frears and Sydney Pollack by taking to the stage to talk about film-making. As anyone that watches YouTube knows, Mr T can be outspoken and passionate. So this should be a stimulating event.

This is not the first time Tarantino has spoken at Cannes, as he took to the stage of the open-air cinema a few years back to introduce some classics films.

Extract:

“At the end of the day, the number one thing I think I’m doing is that I’m forging a different type of comedy. I don’t even know how different it is now but it’s just my style of comedy. It doesn’t mean that everything is funny and that doesn’t mean that there aren’t serious things and that doesn’t mean that if somebody dies it’s not taken seriously from time to time and sometimes it’s taken as a joke. It depends.”
