The 37th Rencontres Cinématographiques to kick off November 18

It’s quite amazing when you think that the Rencontres Cinématographiques de Cannes are about to celebrate their 37th edition.

The event was created to provide cinema-goers and professionals with a forum for a deeper understanding of cinema. It hosts abroad palette of great new films, accompanies by numerous talks and other events.

The 37th edition will run from November 18-24 at eight cinemas in the city of Cannes and Le Cannet (Miramar, La Licorne, Les Arcades, Cineum Cannes, l’Olympia, Cinétoile Rocheville, Le Cannet Toiles, and Théâtre Croisette).

The opening night event will feature a screening of “Jouer avec le feu”, in which Vincent Lindon plays a liberal father struggling to get to terms with the right-wing tendencies of his son.

Presentation evening: November 14

To get the full program and buy tickets at preferential rates, the Rencontres Cinématographiques are holding a presentation evening at the Espace Miramar on November 14. From 5:00 p.m., presale of Rencontres subscriptions at preferential rates (Unlimited €50 instead of €55, 10 sessions: €32 instead of €35, 6 sessions: €25 instead of €27)

6:30 pm: Presentation of the program by Aurélie Ferrier and Gerard Camy

8:00 pm: Preview screening of the film La Vie devant moi by Nils Tavernier

Nils Tavernier, known for his sensitive and human approach to cinema, is preparing to enrich his filmography with a new feature film expected in 2024. This film, anchored in reality, is inspired by the story of Tauba Zylbersztejn, a young girl who, with her parents, lived in hiding for two years in a maid’s room at 209, rue Saint-Maur in Paris, during the period of the Occupation. To bring this film to life, Nils Tavernier has surrounded himself with a remarkable cast, including Violette Guillon, Adeline d’Hermy, Sandrine Bonnaire, Guillaume Gallienne, Laurent Bateau, Rod Paradot and Bernard Le Coq.
