Over the weekend it was announced that the MIPIM postponed its dates. The outcome is that it will take place the same time as Midem, June 2-5, 2020. Obviously, this is an extreme measure in extreme times.
But it has huge significance if you are attending either event and have not yet booked accommodation! A whole bunch more people will be booking accommodation and flights to Cannes around those dates.
I wrote this piece already a while back, but it’s still valid. Where to stay in Cannes. I recommend heading straight to the out-of-town locations such as Juan-les-Pins or Cannes -La Bocca for the best prices. They are just 5/10 mins by train from Cannes.
The decision follows an official position from the French authorities. “This is not a decision we have taken lightly. We believe these new dates will provide the international MIPIM community with the opportunity to achieve their business objectives. We are grateful to our clients for their support and constructive input during this challenging period, and we look forward to talking with them in the coming days about MIPIM in June,” said Reed MIDEM Chief Executive, Paul Zilk .
For the moment, the Film Festival 2020 is still maintaining its dates.
