The writer/director Jean-Pierre Améris will be the focus of a special retrospective in Cannes September 25-27, 2018. Billed as “Trois jours avec…”, the event will feature screenings of Améris movies such as “Maman est folle”, “Je m’appelle Elisabeth”, “La joie de vivre” and his 2014 Cannes-nominated movie “Poids léger/Lightweight” (also in the presence of the actress Annie Cordy). The screenings will take place held at the Licorne Theatre and the Miramar.

JeanPierre Améris was born in Lyon on July 26, 1961. As a teenager, he decided to become a film director. At the age of 18, he enrolled in the French film Conservatory in Paris to take film lessons but spent two years skimming the Parisian halls, seeing up to four films a day.

His career has been split between documentaries and features, several of which have won international awards. His most recent movie is “Je vais mieux/I Feel Better”) on a novel by David Foenkinos and starring Eric Elmosino.

During his stay, Améris will also run a masterclass for pupils of Cannes’ film school.
