Every since 1987, Cannes hosts the Rencontres de Cannes, an ambitious selection of screenings and talks centred on literature and also movies. The idea is to promote a critical approach to cinema through selected screenings and debates. The Rencontres also feature a competition. This year the 9-man jury will be presided by the writer-director Elsa Diringer, whose “Luna” will be screened at the event, which takes place November 19-25, 2018.
More than 100 movies are being presented this year, including retrospectives, new releases and avant premières.
Guests this year include Gérard Krawczyk, Daniel Prévost, Lolita Chammah, Pierre-William Glenn, Jean-Claude Missiaen, Brigitte Fossey, Nicolas Philibert, Louis-Julien Petit, Audrey Lamy, Corinne Masiero and George Chakiris.
