Participants at MIPTV 2020, cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic, can follow the major conferences as the organisers are putting the key conferences online. Between March 30 and April 2, 2020, a complete program of events will be streamed, allowing the industry to keep up with the latest trends and opportunities.
All trade fairs have two sides: the physical networking and pitching; and the market knowledge. These online conferences enable the industry to keep up with the knowledge.
People that have attended previous editions know what to expect, with themes such as documentary and series pitches, the latest buyer trends, content strategies in the streaming and age and much more.
If you know my book the Cannes Starter Guide you know how important I consider the market databases to be. Working them properly is now even more important than ever. Obviously, nothing can beat face-to-face meetings and the sometimes random encounters that make trade fairs such great places to build business. But the online conferences combined with the database is the next best thing. I suspect that the organisers will be looking at ways to make the online experience more productive in coming years.
